College Lesson Learned #10

#10- Self-defense classes are wonderful. You get to learn how to punch, kick, and flat out beat up people, it’s probably the only time in your life you can literally beat up an officer on duty.

Haha. Good times. So I was honest, I did NOT want to go to this session, but my friends didn't want to go alone and I needed to meet a requirement for a class, so I hesitantly went. First they talked more about sexual assault (another great discussion, I know). After that, the police officers took over and taught us all how to fight. They showed us proper technique and different styles of punches, kicks, and how to break holds.

Then came the fun part: practice.

I would practice with the officer and with myself being one of the few guys, he would then have me hold the pad and take the beating while he coached and demonstrated. Fun times. So after an endless amount of time the officer put on a body suit and it was the test trial...

So I fought him. Oh I fought hard.  It was a good... and all the ladies saw how manly I am and saw how powerfully I hit and kicked an officer.

Moral: Girls, go to events like this, because its good to have some training in protecting yourself, as informal as it may be. Guys, go because lots of girls go, and not many guys go.
