College Lesson Learned #8

#8- Alarm Clocks suck.

Alarm clocks are one of the most useful and hated inventions man has ever created. It has allowed us to meet the demands of our lives by waking us up at the scheduled time... but it wakes us up. Duh. Most people who know me will tell you that I am a morning person, but what they don't know is that unless I am in the vertical, upright standing position, I am not a happy person, but when I stand up it's all good. No worries whatsoever. But waking up is the hard part.

That's where the alarm clock comes in.

One of the first few days of school, I woke up and I realized I had five minutes left in class. I freaked out (being a freshman who had only just started school) and I got dressed and ran to class. I missed it. I shot my teacher an email and she was cool and said that it wasn't a big deal. I went back to my room to see what time I had my alarm clock set to or if I just forgot to set it altogether. I got back to my room and my alarm clock was not on my bolster. I freaked out. Was this some sick joke that my roommate or one of my friends had played on me? Frustrated I decided to take a shower (because that's the logical thing to do when you're upset) and I went over to the sink only to find that hated clock in there. Now I was a little flustered. Not only was my alarm clock unplugged and not where it was supposed to be, it was in the sink. I took my shower and waited until my roommate came back. He walked in the door and I immediately interrogated him. I asked him what was going through his mind when he or someone else put my alarm clock in the sink. He looked at me and quietly said to me, "I didn't do that. You did." I was speechless. "I was walking out the door when I realized that I left my folder on my desk I walked back in just as your alarm went off. You groaned, and then grunted 'ALARM CLOCKS SUCK!' and threw your alarm clock across the room. I was too scared to wake you after that."

Moral: Don't shoot the messenger, they're just delivering the news that it is time for you to wake up.
