English papers suck, but aren’t that bad. Papers not in English are 217% worse,
because it’s not in English.
So obviously I've written about French stuff a few times, well here's another: French papers suck. Yeah when you have to write a big paper for an English class it sucks, but honestly you can decorate and ornament it all you would like and make it look better than it actually is and sound extremely intelligent in doing so. However, in a different language you have nothing you can hide behind, your vocabulary is less than that of a five year old native speaker. That really stinks.
However, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Write about something that interests you. I decided to write this French paper on Captain America (because I LOVE Captain America), and it was something easy and relatable to my life. So I ended up writing a six page paper on how awesome Captain America is, how much I loved the new movie, and how excited I am for the new Avengers movie (WHICH COMES OUT THIS FRIDAY!!!!!) Clearly, I could have talked forever. So I turned it in.
Upon the return of my first draft, I realized as much hard work I put into the paper, it was not where I wanted to be. There was literally more red that white or black on the paper. My professor gave me several comments, but the biggest one was, "This is too long. Please keep it 3-4 pages." So I did what every good college kid editing a paper that was too long did; I omitted the paragraphs with the most red, while still maintaining fluidity among the transitional aspects of this foreign paper. Corrected the rest. A. Boom goes the dynamite.
Moral: Write a paper that's too long. It's easier to edit.
